A peer-to-peer lending (P2P) fintech company, Assetku in collaboration with the Runcing Foundation, provides scholarship assistance for underprivileged children in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Papua.
The assistance was given because based on data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemendikbudristek), NTT, NTB, and Papua contributed 24.7% of dropout students throughout Indonesia. Students dropping out of this school include the level of compulsory education.
To that end, Assetku, which has been established since October 2017, contributes to helping 50 underprivileged children through the NusantaraKu Scholarship Program-Charity Activities Light the Way to School.
Based on a press release received in Jakarta, quoted on (6/1/2022), Assetku and Runcing Foundation provide facilities in the form of school fees, living expenses, accommodation, and activity costs of Rp 200 million for underprivileged students. The assistance is also to improve the student’s living and learning environment.
“Putting out of school because of money shouldn’t be a way of life for these kids. Sitting and studying in a brightly lit classroom, gaining new knowledge on a desert island is their little hope, as well as ours. If the road to school is too difficult, let’s accompany them to their destination,” said the Managing Director of Assetku, Jimmi Adhe Kharisma.
The program, which will run for one year, will be monitored directly through various visits to schools that will be carried out by the Runcing Foundation and local partners. The NusantaraKU Scholarship Program-Charity Activities Light the Way to School is also expected to be able to mobilize the community to participate in helping children in Indonesia who are less fortunate.
Assetku, said Jimmi, is committed to not only providing easy access to financial services, but also contributing to education in Indonesia.
Assetku also invites lenders to participate in lighting the way for students to go to school by participating in interactive games on the Assetku application. After they successfully complete the game, for platinum and diamond members, Asetku will donate funds of up to Rp 200 million on behalf of the lenders as a form of appreciation for their continuous support.
“In addition, they will be given a certificate of appreciation. For other members who take part in this program, they will get a thank you card from Assetku,” said Jimmi.
Assetku also announced that it had received a Business License for Information Technology-Based Lending and Borrowing Companies from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The permit is based on the Decree of the OJK Board of Commissioners Number: KEP123/D.05/2021 dated December 23, 2021.
The licensed P2P status will be a validation that the operational processes that run in the company will be based on the principles of accountability and transparency and will always be under the umbrella of OJK regulations.
