Two health workers (nakes) were missing during the attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua. They were finally found in a ravine on Wednesday (15/9).
It is known that the attack by KKB took place in Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua on Monday (13/9).
The discovery of the two health workers began when the joint TNI-Polri team received information that residents found two health workers at the bottom of a ravine.
“At 16.30 WIT, joint personnel arrived at the location where the two victims were thrown, and it was found that the victim Kristina Sampe was alive, while the victim Gabriela Meilan was dead,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Mushtofa Kamal in his statement, Thursday (16 /9).
Health workers on behalf of Kristina, said Kamal, have been evacuated and are now at the Pamtas 403/WP Post for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the body of the health worker Gabriela Meilan until last night had not been successfully evacuated due to bad weather at the location.
“And the terrain is very steep, so the team postponed the evacuation of the bodies,” said Kamal.
Kamal conveyed his plan for the evacuation process for Gabriel’s health care provider’s body to be resumed today.
“It is planned that today the evacuation of the bodies will be carried out,” he said.
KKB set fire to a number of health facilities, school buildings, and banks during the Kiworok attack. It was suspected as a form of resistance to the arrest of their comrades.
In that incident, several public facilities were burned, including the District office, Bank Papua Kiwirok Cash Office, Kiwirok Health Center, Doctor’s House, Nakes Barracks, Inpres Elementary School, Teacher’s House and Market.
In addition, there was also a shootout between the KBB and the TNI-Polri officers who were on guard. Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lieutenant Colonel Arm Reza Nur Patria said one member suffered minor injuries from being hit by a bullet during gunfight.
